What is APAA?

The Applied Behavior Analysis Providers Alliance, APAA, is a professional organization created to represent, protect, and strengthen agencies and leaders who provide Applied Behavior Analysis services, integrating clinical excellence with a solid organizational, financial, and strategic vision. APAA emerged in response to the real need for a technically sound, ethical, and legally grounded voice that defends evidence-based practice, proper regulatory compliance, and respect for the medical necessity of ABA services, while also supporting providers in the operational, administrative, and regulatory challenges inherent to responsible agency management. APAA functions as a professional platform that promotes clear quality standards, fosters collaboration among providers, and serves as a qualified interlocutor with insurers, regulatory agencies, and public policy decision-makers. From a non-commercial perspective, APAA strengthens providers not only as clinicians, but as responsible entrepreneurs and community leaders, advancing a stronger, more transparent, sustainable ABA sector committed to protecting families, professionals, and the communities it serves.

Our purpose

Who are we?

What are we solving?

While many organizations in the field focus primarily on clinical development, a significant gap remains in supporting ABA agency owners and leaders in addressing the business, legal, operational, and strategic realities of practice. Leaders are expected to sustain consistent clinical excellence while navigating increasingly complex regulatory environments, characterized by ongoing changes in federal program policies, instability and inconsistency in the policies and requirements of various Managed Care Organizations, and arbitrary administrative and clinical practices that distort, limit, and hinder the proper delivery of services. These challenges are compounded by reimbursement limitations, workforce instability, credentialing barriers, frequent audits, and growing exposure to compliance and legal liability risks. Such pressures place both agencies and families in vulnerable positions, particularly when providers lack coordinated guidance, effective representation, and institutional support.

The Applied Behavior Analysis Providers Alliance, APAA, was established to respond to these systemic challenges in a structured manner. As an association centered on ABA professionals, families, and those who make decisions and deliver services, APAA provides a unified framework that strengthens providers beyond the traditional clinical and administrative model. Through collective advocacy, strategic resources, and shared expertise, APAA promotes responsible growth, protects organizational and professional integrity, improves operational efficiency, reduces legal and financial risk, and encourages active participation in regulatory and public policy processes. In doing so, APAA advances the long-term sustainability of the ABA sector while defending and elevating ethical standards, service excellence, and continuity of care for the families and communities it serves.

Mission of ABA Providers Advocacy Alliance (APAA)

Mission

Our mission is to unite, represent, and strengthen ABA agencies and professionals by ensuring excellence in service delivery, promoting clinical distinction, upholding the highest standards of professional ethics, and providing effective legal advocacy across the field.

Vision

Our vision is to consolidate ourselves as the leading reference organization in the defense and strengthening of Applied Behavior Analysis at the institutional level, as an organization of providers for providers. We are guided by the conviction that those on the front lines of service are best positioned to understand the clinical, operational, and human realities of ABA, and therefore must have an active, legitimate, and respected voice in the decisions that affect the field. We aspire to be recognized for strong technical, legal, and ethical leadership, committed to protecting the medical necessity of services and to the proper application of the scientific principles that sustain the practice. At the same time, we seek to earn respect by continuously elevating our level of excellence in service delivery, acting in strict compliance with the law, and promoting ongoing professional growth across the sector. APAA envisions a system in which Applied Behavior Analysis services are respected as medically necessary, evaluated using clinical rather than administrative criteria, and delivered by professionals and agencies supported by strong, unified, and well-represented structures. Our vision is an organized, cohesive, and heard ABA sector, with the real capacity to positively influence public policy, payer practices, and, ultimately, the quality of life of the families and communities it serves.
